Windows 11 PC Health Check for Windows 10 and below

Windows 11 will be released in the last quarter of 2021, perhaps a little excitement in the second year of COVID gloom. The PC Helath Check app (pictured) provided by Microsoft should not be confused with a PC Healh Check Service, where an IT technician performs actual work on your computer, to resolve problems.

Windows 11 PC Health Check App

The Windows 11 PC Health Check App is designed simply, to advise if your computer can be upgraded to Windows 11.  It doesn't do anything more than that.

If you're looking to improve the speed of your computer and resolve computer problems, check out our PC Health Check Service. It's similar to your car's annual service, but for your computer.

Should I Upgrade to Windows 11?

When a new operating system is released, or any major software update, you should always proceed with caution. Although software goes through a testing program, testers can't possibly find every defect. In fact, you'll be used to regular Windows updates that "patch" software to plug up security flaws.

It's a good idea to test the software on a computer that you don't rely on, day-to-day. You may also find that some devices such as printers, scanners, or cameras no longer work on Windows 11, particularly if the developer hasn't updated their software, named drivers.

Check for compatibility

Use the PC Health Check app to see if your current PC meets the requirements to run Windows 11. If so, you can get a free upgrade when it rolls out.

Windows 11 System Requirements
Processor   1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor
Memory   4 GB RAM
Storage   64 GB or larger storage device
Firmware   UEFI, Secure Boot capable
TPM   Trusted Platform 2

Certain features require specific hardware, see detailed system requirements.

You'll also need a graphics card with DirectX support and a display, at least 720p and a 9" display and above.
In short, if your computer is under 10 years old, you should be fine. It may not run optimally, but it should work.

We suggest that an engineer resolves any computer problems that you may have, clearing up disk space and removing old, unused software prior to an upgrade.
